JANA Webinar: A focus on sustainability - UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)

This years' market and regulatory forces reached a tipping point behind net zero. The impetus for, and return on, investor action on climate change when actively managed has never been stronger. This has only been strengthened by public sector commitments made at COP26. In particular:

  • Carbon markets: the rules for a new global carbon market have been put in place.
  • Pledge on deforestation: 110 governments promise to end deforestation by 2030.
  • Coal, fossil fuel, and methane: 105 governments pledge to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030 and the “phase down” of unabated coal power.
  • Developing nations: Rich nations are asked to ‘at least double’ their support for adaptation measures, which will help developing countries prepare for climate change, by 2025, compared to 2019 levels.
