JANA bolsters senior leadership team – three new GMs appointed

One of Australia’s leading investment consultancies, JANA, has announced the promotion of three of its leading consultants into new General Manager (GM) positions.

The three appointments are as follows:

• Duncan Smith as GM Client Relationship Management, having joined JANA in 2004. Duncan’s most recent role was as a Principal Consultant.
• Kirsten Temple as GM Investment Strategy, having joined JANA in 2009. Kirsten’s most recent role was Manager of Research.
• Anthony Ballard as GM Research, having joined JANA in 2007. Anthony’s most recent role was as a Senior Consultant and Head of Australian Equities.

The newly created roles will report directly into JANA CEO, Jim Lamborn. Speaking on the appointments, Mr Lamborn said, “I am delighted to announce Duncan, Kirsten and Anthony’s new roles at JANA. As GM Client Relationship Management, Mr Smith’s new role will oversee client services, including achievement of optimal client investment outcomes, alongside ensuring growth and client retention targets are achieved.

Ms Temple, as GM Investment Strategy, will be responsible for the development of JANA’s client advice on broad investment strategy and capital markets analysis, including leading asset allocation decision making for JANA’s advisory and implemented clients.

Mr Ballard as GM Research will lead the investment research function across diverse asset classes to maximise investment outcomes for JANA, its clients and their beneficiaries.

All three positions are based in Melbourne and are effective immediately. The three GM appointments close 2021 as a bumper year of major hires for JANA whose headcount grew by 18, including the hiring of Rachel Halpern as Head of Sustainability in May and Michael Maher as Co-Head of Not-For-Profit Clients in June.
