In collaboration with our working group and Corporate Culcha – an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that helps companies, government bodies, and community organisations engage effectively with Indigenous Australia across urban, regional, and remote areas – we developed our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Through the actions outlined in this plan, we aim to:

JANA is honoured to feature artwork created by Dennis Golding, a Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist born and raised on Gadigal land in Redfern, Sydney, with ancestral connections to Biripi Country on the mid-north coast of New South Wales.
Working across painting, photography, video, graphic design and installation, Dennis explores themes of identity, community, history and culture through a contemporary Aboriginal lens. His practice is deeply informed by his experiences growing up in the Aboriginal community of Redfern and by the visual storytelling traditions passed down through his family.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from UNSW Art & Design, Dennis has established himself as one of Australia’s leading contemporary First Nations artists. He has exhibited extensively across the country and delivered significant public art commissions that celebrate Aboriginal culture, connection and place.
Through both his artistic and curatorial work, Dennis seeks to create powerful representations of contemporary Aboriginal identity while honouring the histories, resilience and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The artwork commissioned for JANA’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) was created by Dennis Golding facilitated by the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA).
At the heart of the artwork is a celebration of the enduring connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country. Using topographic forms and flowing patterns that are characteristic of Dennis’s artistic practice, the work reflects the movement of land and water as living forces that have shaped Country for generations and continue to hold deep cultural significance today.
The layered contours represent journeys, interconnectedness and the ongoing creation of life. They speak to themes of resilience, growth and continuity—values that align strongly with the spirit of reconciliation and JANA’s commitment to creating positive, lasting outcomes for people and communities.
The colour palette draws inspiration from the Australian landscape, incorporating the rich tones of earth and ochre, the vitality of plant life, the power of fire and the depth of water. These elements connect the artwork to Country while also complementing JANA’s visual identity, symbolising the shared journey of learning, understanding and partnership between JANA and First Nations peoples.
Developed in collaboration with NADA, the artwork was digitised to enable individual design elements to be woven throughout JANA’s RAP communications and supporting materials. This approach ensures the artwork’s meaning and cultural significance remain present across the many ways JANA shares its reconciliation journey.
